Centre Wellington Awards of Excellence

The Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce invites you to participate in our award winning Annual Business and Community Awards of Excellence. This premiere event recognizes individuals and businesses that have made a significant and lasting contribution to the people of the Township of Centre Wellington. Attendees include business people, government representatives, social and community service agencies, art, cultural and tourism professionals.

*Please note these awards are open to businesses, individuals, organizations, etc. who live or work within Centre Wellington.  The Nominee does not have to be a Chamber member!

How To Apply:

If there is an online application available, you may use the online form.  The Online form includes the Cover page information.  Be careful to supply all necessary information.  If you have supporting documents (letters, images, etc.) to go along with the application, be sure to bring these to the Chamber office (400 Tower Street South, Fergus) or email to before the deadline.

If there is no online form available, you must print, complete and submit the pdf version and Cover.  Be sure to download and complete a Cover page with each pdf submission.  All forms and supporting documents must be delivered to the Chamber offices prior to the deadline.

Agriculture / Agri Business Award

This award recognizes any individual, group, organization, or business where the business strives to stand out from others, has an innovative approach or overcome significant challenges in agriculture or agri-business.

Business Beautification - Heritage Award

This award is presented to a business, agricultural business, or industry that has taken great pride and ownership of their community corporate image.

Business of the Year Award

This award is presented to a company that has had an impact on the Centre Wellington community. NEW for 2017 – this will cover all businesses, regardless of number of employees.

Citizen of the Year

This award is presented to an individual who makes an outstanding contribution to our community, with no expectation of personal gain. Unselfish volunteering of personal time and talent towards the betterment of our community are the hallmarks of this award.

Community Social Responsibility Award

This award is presented to an individual, group, organization or business that has displayed hard work and dedication to bettering our community. Some examples of Community Social Responsibility include:

  • raising money for a special cause
  • assist others or bettered our community as a whole
  • support our community through donations, fundraising or special events.

Corporate Citizen of the Year

This award is presented to a business or business person that actively works towards making our community a more friendly, safe and pleasurable place to live. The Corporate Citizen of the Year Award identifies those who have a concern for the needs of others, going above and beyond the call of duty with little or no concern for financial gain.

  1. Corporate Citizen Gesture – An incident the nominator has observed/experienced that demonstrates the Nominee exemplified good care and concern for others.
  2. Community Commitment & Involvement – The business encourages staff for the business, either corporately or individually, to support events and activities that contribute to the well-being of our community.
  3. Special Considerations – On a day-to-day basis, the business offers to go above and beyond the call of duty to offer great service.

Cultural, Arts, Tourism Impact Award

Tell us how this individual, group, organization or business made a significant contribution to Center Wellington’s cultural, arts or tourism activities and impact. 

Customer Service Excellence Award
This award is presented to a business that has provided exceptional customer service by consistently offering a high quality of service to all customers or by going above and beyond the call of duty to provide service to a customer in extenuating circumstances. This nomination must be third party (i.e. no self-nominations).

Environmental Excellence Award

This award is presented to a business, person or organization that has demonstrated a commitment of excellence to the environment.

Not For Profit Award

This award is presented to a not for profit organization that operates in and serves the residents of Centre Wellington. The organization must be in operation in the community for 5 years or more.

Tradesperson Award

This award is presented to a skilled tradesperson(s), contractor or company that demonstrates an excellent standard for the rest of the industry and the community by their quality, leadership, customer service, skills and work performance.  Some examples are: baker, welder, HVAC, seamstress, hairdresser, carpenter, etc.

Youth Citizen of the Year — Alvin Shortt Award

The Township of Centre Wellington Parks and Recreation Department sponsors The Alvin Shortt Award, recognizing outstanding youth (25 and under) within the Township of Centre Wellington.  The individual must maintain a high level of proficiency in their activity while, at the same time, volunteering and giving back to the community of Centre Wellington. This award recognizes excellence in youth in Centre Wellington with leadership, sportsmanship, education, and work ethic all being major factors in this award.

The award is open to a youth involved in any Centre Wellington community group, (including secondary schools serving the youth of Centre Wellington), sport group, and/or organization that wish to recognize the outstanding achievements of a local youth by nominating him or her.  The group’s contact person should be clearly highlighted on the nomination form, which will outline the applicant’s achievements and Centre Wellington commitments.

Young Entrepreneur of the Year

This award is presented to an individual between the ages of eighteen and thirty-five (18-35) who has distinguished him/her self by having demonstrated an outstanding business sense, an innovative spirit, and an energetic profile and good community involvement. The business has to have been established for at least two years before the entrepreneur can be eligible for nomination.

President's Award

This award is presented to a worthy citizen (resident) of Centre Wellington who illustrates great “community spirit” towards a program or event within the Township of Centre Wellington.
