The Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce

The mission of the Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce strives to promote the social, civic & economic development of our community. We are a volunteer organization supported by over 350 local business and professional people such as yourself. Your participation in the Chamber helps make Centre Wellington a more rewarding place to live, work and play. By providing members with CPN, our goal is to:

  • Foster and support private enterprise and enhance the economic vitality and stability of small business
  • Provide a direct forum for idea exchange
  • Communicate effectively with members and solicit their opinions and feedback

Chamber Plus Networks

The reason for a weekly Chamber Plus Networks meeting is to:

  • Get to know and trust one another
  • Share in learning and leadership opportunities
  • Gain confidence in each business to exchange business referrals with others in the CPN group

CPN provides Chamber members with a service to promote and increase their business growth and attract new Chamber members. CPN reports to the Membership Services committee.

Meeting Structure

The weekly meetings are centered on exchanging business referrals and ideas, networking, new learning and leadership opportunities, peer support, as well as linking to other Chamber programs.

Chamber Plus Network Support

Roberta Scarrow of the Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce provides ongoing administrative support.

Qualifications for Membership:

  • Exclusive to Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce members in good standing
  • One member exclusively per business/profession per each CPN network
  • Membership is limited to full time business organizations
  • Potential members must first make application for approval
  • A maximum of 20 members per CPN network plus one chamber representative
  • Given the importance of attendance in achieving the objectives of CPN listed above, attendance is monitored and mandatory (designated alternates permitted). Failure to attend regularly (can not miss more than 4 meetings per quarter) may cause expulsion
  • Proper professional conduct and business ethics are expected (refer to code of ethics)


Every weekly meeting of the CPN encourages the promotion of its member’s business to other members through the prearranged presentations by one member. Speakers have up to ten minutes to present to all members their area of expertise and to explain how CPN members can provide opportunities to generate referrals for the speaker.

CPN Membership Costs

Annual fees are collected upon application. The annual fee is $90 plus HST, and fees are due prior to renewal date. Meal costs are invoiced and paid quarterly in advance. Failure to make payments in a timely manner will result in the suspension of the individuals’ group privileges. The luncheon meetings begin in August 1st and run through July 31st.

Membership Application Process

  • A prospective member completes an application and sends it to the chamber office. The chamber administrator reviews the membership application and if there is no perceived conflict in category will invite the prospective member to attend two (2) meetings as a visitor at the requested CPN group. The application will be sent by email to the Vice-Chair and the Membership Committee for their perusal. After the second meeting, the Vice-Chair will advise the chamber representative of the decision of the Membership Committee
  • The chamber administrator will process the application and prepare an invoice for the pro-rated membership and meals per start date, send an email of welcome including the invoice, prepare a CPN Binder and order a name badge for the new member before the next weekly meeting. Upon acceptance to CPN, fees are non-refundable without exception
  • The Chair will introduce and welcome the new member at the next meeting

  • To demonstrate the highest regard and respect for business colleagues
  • To participate in and accept consensus in policy and decisions for the network
  • To accept shared responsibility for network decisions as a team member
  • To maintain confidentially of all business and personal information as a CPN member and thereafter
  • To be open and honest with your business colleagues
  • To be accountable for your actions and commitments
  • To provide at a minimum of 1 solid business referral per month or 3 per quarter
  • To serve as an active participant in network discussions, share skills, experiences, and expertise in a learning and growing environment
  • To demonstrate a caring attitude towards your fellow members through demonstrated support and listening
  • To serve as an advocate for Chamber Plus Networks with fellow Chamber members
  • Respond to leads quickly

Courtesies of CPN Members

CPN is a professional organization providing its members with a forum for the exchange of business referrals, ideas and networking opportunities. We offer exclusivity to our members in each business category and conflicts of interest are disallowed.

Because our members are offered this exclusivity, missing four meetings in a calendar quarter and / or failure to pay membership fees by the due date is cause for membership termination and automatically opens up that business category to others who are on the waiting list.

  • Referrals are monitored. Failure to provide a minimum of one (1) referral per month or 3 per quarter could result in membership termination

Because our meetings are held at specific venues and to be considerate to our hosts:

  • The Chamber will send out a DOODLE message for attendance of members and guests on Thursday each week. Please respond your attendance either way so that the restaurant can be advised how many are attending. You can call 519-843-5140 or email as well


Wednesday Breakfast meetings (8:00 – 9:00 a.m.) are held each week at Gorge Country Kitchen, 82 Wellington Road 7, Elora .

CPN members are invited and encouraged to attend regular Networking Breakfasts hosted by the Chamber. These breakfasts start at 7:30 am and are held at various local restaurants. Doors open at 7 am.

The CPN group is also invited to attend the Mayor’s Breakfast held annually the last Wednesday of January starting at 7:30 am. Doors open at 7 am.
