COVID-19 PANDEMIC PREPAREDNESS TOOLKIT FOR ONTARIO BUSINESSES
As the situation with COVID-19 continues to evolve, it is critical that businesses are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and resources to respond to protect public health and ensure the continued essential operations of their organizations.

The Ontario Chamber of Commerce team, in collaboration with Hicks Morley, have put together a toolkit to help support businesses be prepared for any human-resources or operational-related disruptions.

The guidelines and resources contained in this toolkit have been prepared to assist businesses in planning for and adaption to the disruption of COVID-19 and any future influenza pandemics.

GOVERNMENT OF CANADA ADDITIONAL MEASURES
Today, the Government of Canada announced additional measures to contain the spread of COVID-19. Here are key points:

  • Canada is closing border entry by non-Canadian citizens and non-permanent residents.
    • Some exceptions include American citizens, airline employees, diplomats, and immediate family members of Canadian citizens.
  • Passengers with presenting symptoms will be prohibited from boarding Canadian aircraft.
    • Air operators will be directed to perform basic health assessments and any patients presenting symptoms will not be able to enter the country.
  • The federal government will set up a program to give asymptomatic Canadian travelers financial support to cover costs while they are trying to return home.

Effective Wednesday, March 18th, only four Canadian airports will accept international travelers: Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, and Montreal. Please note that these restrictions will not apply to trade or commerce.

Canadians who are overseas have been asked to return home while commercial travel is still available. All travelers returning to Canada must self-isolate for 14 days. Canadians are also advised to avoid non-essential travel.

Additional measures are expected to be announced over the coming days. Please see here for a list of complete actions taken by the Government of Canada.
