Advocacy

Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB)
The Government of Canada announced that more Canadians will now qualify for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB). In addition to those who already qualified, the CERB is expanding to include people who:
  • earn up to $1,000 per month;
  • are seasonal workers;
  • have recently had their EI run out.
The changes are retroactive to March 15. Read more here
Ontario Extends Declaration of Emergency to Continue the Fight Against COVID-19
On the advice of the Chief Medical Officer of Health and with the approval of the Ontario legislature, the Ontario government is extending the Declaration of Emergency under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act for a further 28 days. Read more here
PREVENTING COVID-19 IN THE WORKPLACE: EMPLOYERS, EMPLOYEES AND ESSENTIAL SERVICE WORKERS 
If your workplace is an essential service or you have staff still working onsite you will need to follow social distancing rules in the workplace and have the following in place. Read more here

COVID-19 Door Sign – on every entrance to the workplace
How to Hand rub – at every hand sanitizer location (one placed at every entrance)
Hand-washing technique – at every sink
Canadian Survey on Business Conditions
StatCan partnered with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the Ontario Chamber of Commerce to develop this survey and the results will be extremely helpful to our advocacy and recovery efforts. The purpose of this survey is to measure the impact of COVID-19 on businesses in Canada. Your participation is important so that the information collected is as accurate and complete as possible.
The deadline is  THIS Friday  to complete the survey. Find it  here .

Postponement of the Destination Animation Partnership Project  
A conscious and difficult decision has been made by both RTO 4 and the Township of Centre Wellington to place the  2020 Destination Animation Project  on hold as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. The deadline for applications was to have been April 24th, and will be postponed for the time being.   For further information please feel free to contact  Deb Dalziel
 
Agricultural society launches campaign to help feed ‘hungry heroes’
The Grand River Agricultural Society (GRAS), which operates the raceway in Elora, has committed $25,000 to start the Helping Hungry Heroes campaign to provide meals from local restaurants to frontline workers in Centre Wellington. Read more here.
