PROVIDES COVID-19 GOVERNMENT UPDATES

Government of Canada launches Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy Calculator for Employers
To help employers keep and re-hire workers amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government is implementing the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS). A calculator is available online, and the application portal will open on April 27. Read more here
 
Economic recovery efforts have begun in Centre Wellington
Although the COVID-19 pandemic is not over, Township staff have launched several steps and partnerships that will leverage assistance for our communities small business owners during this time of uncertainty. Read more here
 
Township extends all facility closures
To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, the Township has extended all facility closures, and cancelled all spring programming and rentals up to Friday, July 3, 2020. Read more here
 
Canada and Ontario Supporting Agri-food Sector Supply Chain During COVID-19
The governments of Canada and Ontario are investing up to $1 million in new funding to connect workers with in-demand jobs in the agri-food sector to keep the nation's supply chains strong and store shelves stocked during the COVID-19 pandemic. Read more here
 
Province Calls for Innovative Solutions to Combat COVID-19
The Ontario government is investing $20 million to advance medical research and develop tools and resources to combat COVID-19 and other infectious diseases through the Ontario  COVID-19 Rapid Research Fund . The government is calling on all of the province's world-class research institutions, postsecondary institutions, and non-profit scientific partners to take action in the development of innovative solutions to track and defeat COVID-19. Prime Minister announces support for Indigenous businesses
