Awards of Excellence Categories
Awards are presented in 2023 for accomplishments in 2022. These are the 2022 Awards of Excellence being presented on May 30, 2023 at our Awards of
Excellence Gala.
Awards are presented to individuals, businesses, organizations, and groups that are located in and/or serve the Centre Wellington community.
An entity and/or key individuals connected to it can be nominated into a maximum of two categories. If nominations are received into more than two
categories, the business leader will be given the choice of which nomination(s) to accept.
Business of the Year
This award is presented to a business or not-for-profit organization that has demonstrated excellence in leadership, customer/client focus,
resilience, innovation, employee relations, and business achievements.
Citizen of the Year
This award is presented to an individual who makes outstanding contributions to our community, with no expectation of personal gain. Volunteering of
one’s time and talent towards the betterment of our community is the hallmark of this award. Nominations in this category will recognize an
individual for activities beyond the scope of any paid roles they hold within the community. This nomination must be made from a third party (i.e.
no self-nominations)
Community Social Responsibility**
This award is presented to a group or not-for-profit organization that has displayed hard work and dedication to the betterment of our community.
Raising awareness and/or dollars to support the people of Centre Wellington is a foundation of this award in addition to building community
partnerships and collaborations.
Corporate Citizen of the Year
This award is presented to a business actively working towards making Centre Wellington a more positive place to live. The activities that this
business undertakes for the betterment of our community are above & beyond the scope of their business - they choose to take this on, it is not
a requirement of their business model. This nomination must be made from a third party (i.e. no self-nominations).
Cultural, Arts, Tourism Impact Award**
This award is presented to an individual, business, organization, or group that has made a significant impact on cultural, arts, or tourism within
Centre Wellington, putting the community on the map to drive economic growth and awareness.
Customer Service Excellence Award
This award is presented to a business that consistently provides exceptional customer service. This nomination must be made from a third party (i.e.
no self-nominations). Additional community testimonials (submitted through cwchamber.ca) will be included in the adjudication process for this
award.
Environmental Excellence Award**
This award is presented to a business or organization that has shown a commitment to the environment. Green initiatives are a daily priority and
this is clearly demonstrated through ongoing business activities and specific projects. The business strives to provide a positive influence on the
use of our natural resources.
Employer of the Year Award
This award is presented to an employer that goes above and beyond for their employees. Providing an outstanding workplace and demonstrating
excellence in employee relations are the foundations for this award. The business values employee development/retention on the same level as
productivity and business growth.
Excellence in Innovation Award**
This award is presented to a business or organization that has shown a commitment to innovation. Embracing change is evident in thought leadership,
product development, technological advancement or overcoming challenges. The business strives to seize opportunities and be seen as a positive
influence in their industry and their community
Entrepreneur of the Year
This award is presented to an individual who founded, and continues to own at least 50% of, a business and has demonstrated outstanding business
sense, an innovative spirit, and community involvement. Adjudicators will give specific consideration to those who are traditionally under
represented as entrepreneurs in their sector and/or community. This nomination must be made from a third party (i.e. no self-nominations).
Youth Citizen of the Year
This award is presented to an individual under the age of 25 who makes outstanding contributions to our community. This award recognizes excellence
in youth in Centre Wellington, with leadership, work ethic, and integrity being major factors in this award. Self-nominations are now accepted, and
encouraged, for this award.
10, 25 and 40 Years Long Service Awards:
Presented to businesses who have operated in Centre Wellington for 10, 25 or 40 years, as of 2022. If you qualify or know of a business that does,
please advise the Chamber by emailing membership@cwchamber.ca or calling (519) 843-5140 ex. 222.
** - Indicates where, in certain categories, individuals, businesses, organizations, or groups who have previously won the award
are eligible for re-nomination after a period of five years has passed. In these cases, the nomination details should highlight a new project or
approach. Nominations received before a period of five years has passed, or for categories where re-nomination is not permitted, will be considered
ineligible and nominees will be notified and then removed from the nominee list and adjudication process.
