Cases of novel coronavirus and the disease it causes (COVID-19) continue to emerge in Canada. Federal, provincial and municipal governments are working together to respond to this rapidly evolving situation.
I have spoken with many of you in recent days, and am aware of the significant challenges the response to the novel coronavirus outbreak is creating for businesses, both small and large. Your federal and provincial governments are aware of the challenges you are facing.
The federal government has indicated that it will be coming forward with an economic aid package. Details have yet to be released, and the work on this economic aid package is ongoing.
During this coronavirus emergency, it is important to keep calm, help your fellow citizens, and follow the advice of local, provincial and federal governments. They are all working hard to ensure the safety and security of Canadians.
If you have questions about the coronavirus, you can call the federal government at (833) 784-4397 or you can visit www.canada.ca/coronavirus
You can also visit the provincial government’s coronavirus webpage at www.ontario.ca/page/2019-novel-coronavirus
As your Member of Parliament, I will continue to closely monitor the situation and will continue to work closely with MPP Ted Arnott, municipal leaders and your Chamber.
As always, you can contact me at (866) 878-5556.
