A Message from Dana Burdenuk, General Manager:

DanaBurdenuk250

Good afternoon,

Our team here at CWCC is here to help and advocate for you. We’re working hard (and remotely of course!) to ensure that your concerns, feedback and voices are heard.

To date, we've held a Virtual Swap Talk Town Hall with our elected officials from all four levels of government and five free virtual webinars, all focused on helping our local business community navigate through the COVID-19 crisis. We’ll continue this dialogue through a variety of virtual events to ensure our members can continue to learn, adapt, and connect.

There continues to be a lot of announcements from all levels of government in an effort to support businesses. On Friday, the  Ontario-Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (OCECRA)  program was announced to provide urgent relief for small businesses and landlords affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. As of Monday this week, the Canadian Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) opened for applications. To apply, login to your online CRA account. More information can be found  here .

Shop Local CW is LIVE! Buying gift cards supports our local businesses now and later! More info on how to register as a business and how to purchase gift cards can be found at  https://shoplocalcw.ca/ .

With this week’s announcement of the three stages to  reopen the Ontario economy , we want to hear from our members on how you are planning, adapting, and getting ready for recovery. I encourage you to reach out to us and follow our social media and  website  regularly to receive the most up-to-date information.

Keep healthy and please stay connected!

PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR POLL BELOW. YOUR FEEDBACK WILL HELP US CONTINUE TO DELIVER THE MOST RELEVANT CONTENT & EVENTS FOR YOU!

OFA Summary of Government Financial Assistance for Ontario Farmers as of April 26, 2020
In their response to the COVID-19 pandemic, both the Canadian government and the Ontario government have announced financial assistance measures for individuals and businesses, including farm business. Below is a summary of some existing and new financial assistance measures that may be relevant to your Ontario farm business. Read more here .
The results are in: Canadian Survey on Business Conditions
The  Canadian Survey of Business Conditions   (CSBC), a joint effort between Statistics Canada and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, provides the most detailed insight yet into the impact of COVID-19 on Canadian businesses. Click here to read more.
COVID-19 Policy Brief Series
On April 27, the OCC released  Uncharted Territory: Assessing the Landscape for Ontario’s Economic Recovery Post COVID-19 . As governments urgently contemplate policies to reopen the economy, this report outlines the tools capable of providing critical economic relief at a time when businesses need it most, and the risks of failing to act appropriately.
Ontario is moving quickly to support the needs of frontline workers in responding to COVID-19. As the public health situation improves because of our collective efforts, Ontario will begin to reopen its doors in a three-staged approach, and will require us to operate differently than before.
Today, our government launched the  COVID-19: Tackling the Barriers  website to help identify the unique challenges created under these unexpected circumstances and consider ways to overcome them.
