A Message from Dana Burdenuk, General Manager:
Our team here at CWCC is here to help and advocate for you. We’re working hard (and remotely of course!) to ensure that your concerns, feedback and voices are heard.
To date, we've held a Virtual Swap Talk Town Hall with our elected officials from all four levels of government and five free virtual webinars, all focused on helping our local business community navigate through the COVID-19 crisis. We’ll continue this dialogue through a variety of virtual events to ensure our members can continue to learn, adapt, and connect.
There continues to be a lot of announcements from all levels of government in an effort to support businesses. On Friday, the Ontario-Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (OCECRA) program was announced to provide urgent relief for small businesses and landlords affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. As of Monday this week, the Canadian Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) opened for applications. To apply, login to your online CRA account. More information can be found here .
Shop Local CW is LIVE! Buying gift cards supports our local businesses now and later! More info on how to register as a business and how to purchase gift cards can be found at https://shoplocalcw.ca/ .
With this week’s announcement of the three stages to reopen the Ontario economy , we want to hear from our members on how you are planning, adapting, and getting ready for recovery. I encourage you to reach out to us and follow our social media and website regularly to receive the most up-to-date information.
Keep healthy and please stay connected!
PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR POLL BELOW. YOUR FEEDBACK WILL HELP US CONTINUE TO DELIVER THE MOST RELEVANT CONTENT & EVENTS FOR YOU!

COVID-19 Policy Brief Series
Ontario is moving quickly to support the needs of frontline workers in responding to COVID-19. As the public health situation improves because of our collective efforts, Ontario will begin to reopen its doors in a three-staged approach, and will require us to operate differently than before.
Today, our government launched the COVID-19: Tackling the Barriers website to help identify the unique challenges created under these unexpected circumstances and consider ways to overcome them.
VIRTUAL SPEED NETWORKING
We are excited to be developing a series of Speed Networking events, happening on May 14, 20, and 26.
Utilizing Zoom's Breakout Room feature, we will virtually replicate our popular speed networking event, providing you with 5 minutes one-on-one with each of the other participants.
With a participant cap in place of 10 people per session, these events will fill up quickly and you won't want to miss out!
Thank you to our incredible volunteers within CWCC, and within the greater Centre Wellington community.
We couldn't do what we do without our dedicated Board and committees!

“Keep the businesses we love, in business” is a primary focus for the Township, and the theme for the new Shop Local CW website to be launched later this week to assist our local businesses during these unprecedented times. A partnership between the Township and the Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce sparked the idea that will give consumers the ability to visit www.shoplocalcw.ca and purchase gift cards online, then redeem those gift cards at a later time, once businesses have re-opened their doors.
Connect CW offers virtual experiences
At a time when we are all practicing self-isolation and physical distancing due to COVID-19, it is important now more than ever to come together and celebrate the innovation and local talent that's happening in Centre Wellington. Several of our other members are participating as well, including Dan Allen Financial who added $1,000 to the $25,000 put forward by GRAS; A&W Fergus who matched the $500 gift card purchase; and playing a key role as they deliver the goods is Nick's Quick Delivery. Over $30,000 in restaurant gift cards have been purchased for Centre Wellington’s frontline healthcare workers. If this has inspired you to make a donation, please reach out to email@example.com .
